FAQ . . .
Q. Do you have any private rooms?
A. No. Our house is all about sharing and being social with other students and travelers. Each room is shared with 2 persons per room. Rooms are usually shared with same gender roommates, however this is determined by the roommates responses on the Roommate Matching Questionaire. All rooms are shared because we find that shared rooms promote the atmosphere we all enjoy.
Q. I'm not a student, intern or an educational J-1 work abroad participant. Can I stay?
A. Sorry, our house is a community of students that have specific academic goals while in San Francisco.
Q. What is the minimum and maximum stay?
A. Our home is designed for visiting students in San Francisco for 1 to 6 months. If you are planning to stay less or more than this amount please contact us to discuss your specific plans.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. The cost is $880 per person per month which includes a $90 cleaning fee. All rent and fees due can be paid by cash, check, credit cards or Paypal.
Q. What's included in the price?
A. The rooms are fully furnished with a bunkbed, desk/dresser and chair for each roommate. We have fully equipped kitchen for making your own meals (We try to have a community dinner once each week). High speed internet Wi-Fi is included as well as all other utilites. There is a common room lounge, 3 bathrooms and a laundry room.
Q. What is the cost to move-in?
A. First month's rent and a $300 refundable damage deposit is required at check in. If you would like us to provide linens, there is a one-time $25 charge.
Q. Is housekeeping included?
A. Yes, Shelli does all the general cleaning in the common areas of the house. HOWEVER, everyone is responsible for cleaning their own room and picking up after themselves in common areas. The one thing that occasionally negatively affects our community is dirty dish leavers. If you are a someone who does not like to wash your own dishes, clean counters, and generally don't like to thoroughly clean up after yourself, please do not request to stay here. You might be better suited for a boarding house that provides meals.
Q. What forms of payment do you accept?
A. Payment can be made by cash, check, travelers checks, credit card or Paypal.
Q. What if I arrive and decide this house is not the right fit for me?
A. Most housemates are arriving from great distances and we understand you may be concerned if this house will be a good fit for you. Therefore, if during the first month you realize our home is not working for you may inform us of the reasons, provide one week notice and check out early to receive a refund of your unused rent (prorated on a per night basis). However, in accordance with San Francisco ordinances we are not a hotel. Therefore, we are required to charge a $300 administrative fee, on all stays less than one month.
Q. What if I want to move out after the first month?
A. We expect you will stay through to your planned move-out date. However, we understand plans sometimes change. If you decide after the first month that you would like to move out, inform us immediately. We will begin looking for a new housemate to fill your place. You will not be obligated to continue paying rent after a new housemate has filled your spot.
